The communities of Temecula and Murrieta are engaging in a friendly and heartfelt competition this fall — to collect the most donations for deployed service members through the MilVet Military Care Package Program.
From Sunday, October 12th through Wednesday, November 12th, residents can bring items to the TVE2 building, where a decorated donation box will be stationed in the front lobby. This is your chance to show gratitude to those serving far from home by helping to send them a taste of comfort and appreciation.
What is MilVet?
MilVet is a local nonprofit organization that supports veterans and active-duty military personnel through programs such as care packages, military family assistance, and community events.
The Military Care Package Program specifically focuses on sending high-quality, much-needed items to deployed service members overseas. The goal is to remind them that their sacrifices are valued and that they are not forgotten by those back home.

Why These Donations Matter
Deployments can be physically and emotionally challenging. Receiving a care package filled with useful supplies and heartfelt notes can lift spirits and foster a strong connection between the service member and their home community.
According to the USO, care packages are one of the most requested forms of support from deployed troops. The simple gesture of sending everyday items — many of which are hard to access overseas — can significantly improve morale (source).
The Friendly City Challenge
Temecula and Murrieta are both rallying their residents to collect the most care package items before the November 12th deadline. It’s a fun, community-driven rivalry with a deeply meaningful outcome.
Want to help Temecula win? Drop your donations at TVE2’s front lobby and encourage others to join in. Whether you’re a business, student, veteran, or local family — everyone’s contributions count.
Other Ways to Support
If you can’t donate items, you can still:
Write thank-you letters to troops.
Volunteer with MilVet to assemble or ship packages.
Donate funds directly to support shipping costs:
Conclusion
This fall, take a moment to support those who support our freedoms. The MilVet Military Care Package Program is more than a donation drive — it’s a reminder to our deployed heroes that we stand with them. Together, let’s make sure they feel the warmth and gratitude of the communities they protect.
